Call for Proposals: Grade 8 Canoe Training

Dates
- May 8-12, 2023: In-pool safety training
- First two weeks of June (June 5-9 and June 12-16, 2023): Inclement weather may lead to postponed dates
Location
- To be determined. Possibly Long Lake, Yellowknife River, or Back Bay
Contractor will provide:
- Basic water safety and canoe paddling training for the 8 classes, approximately 20 students (8 classes each given 0.5 days training in the pool)
- Basic water safety and canoe paddling training for the 8 classes, approximately 20 students (8 classes each given 1 day training on the water)
- Appropriate instructional staff
- Appropriate safety gear, canoes, and paddles
- Additional training ideas outside of the 2 days listed above will also be considered (ex. further classroom instruction)
YK1 will provide:
- Student transportation to and from the site
- Appropriate supervision
- All communication with schools, parents, and guardians

The provider must be Paddle Canada Certified, and at least one instructor on site must possess a valid first aid/ CPR certification. Applications must be received before March 30, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.
