Call for Proposals: Grade 8 Canoe Training

Dates

  • May 8-12, 2023: In-pool safety training
  • First two weeks of June (June 5-9 and June 12-16, 2023): Inclement weather may lead to postponed dates

Location

  • To be determined. Possibly Long Lake, Yellowknife River, or Back Bay

Contractor will provide:

  • Basic water safety and canoe paddling training for the 8 classes, approximately 20 students (8 classes each given 0.5 days training in the pool)
  • Basic water safety and canoe paddling training for the 8 classes, approximately 20 students (8 classes each given 1 day training on the water)
  • Appropriate instructional staff 
  • Appropriate safety gear, canoes, and paddles
  • Additional training ideas outside of the 2 days listed above will also be considered (ex. further classroom instruction)

YK1 will provide:

  • Student transportation to and from the site
  • Appropriate supervision
  • All communication with schools, parents, and guardians

More Information (Deadline & Contact)

The provider must be Paddle Canada Certified, and at least one instructor on site must possess a valid first aid/ CPR certification. Applications must be received before March 30, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.
