Įtl’ǫ̀ Update - Sunday, August 14th, 2022

Itlo School

As work continues on the school, we are pleased to confirm that our doors open to students and families on Monday, August 29th for the first day of classes. The first bell rings at 8:20, with classes starting at 8:30. Drop-off for JK students will start at 8:00 as it has in the past. We will post more details regarding drop-off and pick-up over the course of this week and into the next.

We are still taking registrations for the current school year. Because of the active construction, we ask that you email your registrations to us. The forms can be downloaded at the school district's main site. There you will also find  our school supply list. When sending in your child's registration, please attach a copy of their birth certificate and their NTHSSA Health Services Card. We will reply to you to confirm that we have received and are processing the registration. We are emailing all families on or before 6 PM on Friday August 26th with the class placement for their children so everyone know where to go on Monday the 29th.

Anyone passing the school site recently has seen that it's a busy place! The contractors are hard at work and have done a fantastic job. Their main efforts in the coming days will be to make sure that classrooms, the main office and the school grounds are ready and safe for our students. Some common areas including the gym, community kitchen, project room and library will still have some way to go before being able to welcome students. These areas are being completed as quickly as possible, and we have confirmed that there will be no active construction work on the school site until 4:00 PM on days when we are in session.

We know that many families are eager to see their new school. We are not quite yet ready to welcome visitors to the site. However, we are working on a plan to have a small open house for our families, and by email invitation, only. There are still some details to work out, but we hope to send out more information directly to all of our registered families once everything is in place.

Our school phone line is not yet active. We know that some of our families will want to reach us. Until our phone lines are active, anyone wishing to phone should call the main school board office number at 867-766-5050 and ask for École Įtł’ǫ̀. If we can't answer your question by phone, we will take a message and get back to you as soon as we can. You can also email your questions directly to us by email at itlo@yk1.nt.ca.
