  1. Minister’s Awards

Minister’s Medals (Northwest Territories) are awarded for academic achievement in Grade 12 Diploma Examinations. For each Diploma examination subject, a Medal will be awarded to the student who receives the highest Diploma examination mark among all NWT students in that school year for each subject with a minimum mark of 80%. The Minister's Medals are mailed directly to the recipients after Student Records receives the final marks from the August Diploma examination-writing period and are confirmed by each school district. Winners will be recognized with a medal and certificate from the Minister of Education.

  1. Governor-General’s Medal

The Governor General’s Academic Medals have recognized the outstanding scholastic achievements of students in Canada. They are awarded to the student graduating with the highest average from a high school. The average includes all grade 11 and grade 12 courses listed on the student’s official transcript. 

 

  1. School Certificates- Study Hall is not calculated into these percentages. 

 

  • Honour Roll: Students on the Honour Roll have achieved an 80% or higher course average – a minimum of five courses over a school year. This average is calculated on a per credit basis. Students must have passing marks for all courses taken to be eligible.
  • Principal’s List: Students on the Principal’s List have achieved a 90% or higher course average – a minimum of five courses over a school year. This average is calculated on a per credit basis. Students must have passing marks for all courses taken to be eligible.
