Ian Cockburn - Range Lake North School

This is Mr. Cockburn's first year of teaching at Range Lake North School. He is excited to be teaching Grade 7 Post Intensive French and is thrilled to be a member of the school. He is originally from southern Ontario but moved to Yellowknife with his wife and a standard poodle. Mr. Cokcburn says he has been welcomed with open arms and is eager to become a positive contributor to the school and community. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Brock University and his Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. Prior to coming to Range Lake North School, he worked as a Core French teacher instructing students from Grades 4 through 8 in Ontario. One of his pedagogical goals is to ensure that each student is given the opportunity to learn in an environment that welcomes respect and diversity. When he is not teaching, or preparing to teach, his hobbies include reading, home renovation projects, hockey, snowshoeing, golf and going on walks with his wife and dog. Mr. Cockburn looks forward to an excellent year at Range Lake North School!
