To all N.J. Macpherson School families: All students and staff who were in the school between April 26 and 30, 2021 will require a test to return to exit isolation. Family members do not need testing unless they have symptoms or were instructed to do so by Public Health. If your only exposure was at the school, you require a test to be collected between May 10 and 14, 2021. If the student or staff already had a test taken during this time you do not need a repeat test. Students and staff can book testing at the N.J. Macpherson School clinic on May 13 between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and May 14 between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. These times are reserved for N.J. Macpherson School students and staff only, but you can book at other times if needed.
If you have more than one student who requires testing, they can come together, even if the appointments are at different times. Appointments can be booked here. If you already have an appointment at the Yellowknife COVID-19 Testing Centre, you can keep that appointment if the time is more convenient. If the student or staff has any symptoms, please arrange testing at the regular testing centre. Below are some frequently asked questions and answers related to this COVID-19 outbreak.
What if I Was Already Tested?
If you were already tested at the Testing Centre in your exit testing window, you have received your negative results, and you had no symptoms, you can exit self-isolation on your end date. If Public Health has given you other instructions for self-isolation, you must continue to follow those.
What if I Have Symptoms?
If you have symptoms you will need to be assessed and follow guidance provided by Public Health. Book an appointment at the COVID-19 Testing Centre.
When Will I Get My Results?
Given the extremely high volume of tests, result times are longer than usual. We are adding extra staff to assist with testing and results reporting. Some tests may be sent to Alberta if we exceed capacity in the NWT. It may take 3-5 days for your negative result to be called back to you. Positive test results are called immediately.
What About Rapid Testing?
Due to the volume of tests required, rapid testing will not be used for exit testing for these groups.
The entire household must isolate until everyone in the house who requires exit testing receives a negative result.
