Yellowknife Education District No. 1 is pleased to announce that French author Diya Lim will be meeting with students from Ecole J.H. Sissons and Ecole William McDonald Middle School virtually this week. Meetings will be held every weekday morning from May 25 to May 31, 2021. Lim was born and raised in Mauritius, an exotic island in the Indian Ocean. After she graduated from the University of Orleans, France, she decided to settle in Canada. For the past 21 years, she has been living in Ontario where she is a French editor of curriculum and teaching resources. She is also the author of 18 children’s books, all of which have been imagined and penned in the French language. Diya is the winner of the 2019 Trillium Book Award and the 2011 Prix littéraire Henriette-Major. She has visited numerous schools in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick to help instill the love of reading and writing French. She is looking forward to meeting our students this week, and we're looking forward to learning from her!
