To all stakeholders:

Re: YK1 accepts offer from the NWT Housing Corporation for the sale of Nordic Arms

The Board of Trustees of Yellowknife Education District No. 1 (YK1) is pleased to announce that an offer submitted by the Northwest Territories Housing Corporation (NWTHC) for the sale of the Nordic Arms apartment building on Franklin Avenue has been accepted.

"YK1 received multiple offers for the sale of Nordic Arms,” said YK1 Chairperson Terry Brookes in a statement. “After careful consideration of all offers, the Board of Trustees has accepted the offer for sale from the NWTHC. The Board would like to thank Coldwell Banker, in particular Rod Stirling and Jim Weller, for their excellent service throughout the listing and sale."

The downtown building was listed in January by Coldwell Banker following a request for proposals and evaluation process. YK1 received a total of five offers for Nordic Arms.

Trustees passed a motion in October 2021 authorizing YK1 Superintendent/ CEO Dr. Cindi Vaselenak to initiate a process to sell the 24-unit apartment building. YK1 has owned and operated Nordic Arms for over 30 years.
