Rainbow Dance a Huge Success!

Students rocking to the Penguin Dance

During the lunch hour on Friday, April 14th, our school's Rainbow Club organized a school dance for our students. We are happy to report that about 200 of our students chose to come (the rest of our students were able to enjoy the beautiful weather outside). Everyone had a great time and students and staff enjoyed dancing to the tunes spun up by our very own Mme Jasmine. We would like to thank the students in the Rainbow Club and their sponsor teacher, Mme Ashley, for organizing a wonderful event for our school!

Subway Day

Our next Subway day is Thursday April 20th. If you would like to order a sandwich for your child, and you haven't already done so, please use the link below. To be included for Thursday, orders must be submitted no later than 6 PM on Monday, April 17th.

Community Plant Sale

The community plant sale is returning to our school and we need your help. We are collecting clean and empty yogurt containers for this year's Plant Sale. which will take place Saturday, June 3rd from 10am-12pm We are looking for containers in the 650g-750g range. Please send these containers to school with your child in the coming weeks. Thank you for your support!

Breakfast Program Volunteers

Our breakfast program continues to be very popular with our students. On any given morning, we have 30 to 50 students taking advantage of the opportunity to have a healthy meal or snack to start the day. Volunteers are key to making this program work. Our community has been great at stepping forward to support our efforts. Thank you for this. We are specifically looking for volunteers to help with Tuesday and Thursday of next week, and Monday and Wednesday the week after that. If you can lend us a hand, please add your name to the schedule below. Thank you very much to our PAC for their support for the program, and also to Annie Casson for her ongoing work to make sure the schedule is up-to-date.

Reminder - Family Intentions & Placing Classroom Requests

We also are reposting our message about the family intentions survey we announced last week. If you haven't done so already, please take a few minutes to complete a form for each of your children currently attending our school. Here is the full text of last week's message:

The process of making up classes for each school year begins in May and is based on the best information available at that time. The staff of the school meets and goes through a process that considers a number of factors, including those that follow below. This list is not in priority order and is meant to ouline the process used to determine each placement:

  • Teaching style of the teacher and the learning style of the student
  • Child's physical and social maturity
  • Gender balance in each class
  • Number of years the child has been with the teacher.
  • Child's interactions with other students
  • Child's needs in social, emotional, and behavioural areas
  • Child’s learning strengths and areas of further development
  • Age of the child
  • Student friendships
  • Best use of educational assistants (if available)
  • Child's need for additional learning, social, emotional, or behavioural supports
  • Placement which will afford the child the greatest chance of success
  • Family requests - see below

Families with specific educational concerns who may wish to make suggestions for their child should forward the relevant information by April 28th using the form provided. All requests will be reviewed by staff during the placement meetings, and will be made available to all relevant staff. The school will not consider requests for a specific teacher. Although we will attempt to meet family requests, we cannot guarantee to satisfy any of them. Furthermore, requests that are received after April 28th may not be considered.

Please note that this survey is for families who already have children attending our school in JK through 5. In order to complete the survey, and make a request if you have one, please visit:
