We are sending out our weekly website posting one day early this week because our students don't have school tomorrow. Please remember that Friday, April 28th is a professional day. Classes for students resume on Monday, May 1st.

Grade 4/5 Soccer Update

We have approximately 40 players who have signed up and have been attending the noon-hour practices over the course of this week. The last two practices are set for Monday and Tuesday after school. As with the lunch-hour practices, these are mandatory for players participating in the tournament. The after-school practices will end at 4:10. The tournament itself takes place next week, from May 3rd to the 7th inclusive. Once a game schedule is set, we will be sure to send it out to players' families.

Puddle Day is Here!

We will have our annual Puddle Day on Monday May 1st. We recommend that any child wishing to partake in Puddle Day brings a spare set of dry clothing. Students will be given an extra recess at 2:45, with Puddle Day officially kicking off at 2:50. Students will have until 3:10 to enjoy themselves with the puddles (that, up to now, have been out-of-bounds). At the conclusion of Puddle Day, students will have a chance to change into their dry clothing afterward. We remind everyone that Puddle Day is an optional activity for our students. Anyone wishing to remain dry will also be outside, but will be enjoying an extra recess.

Hay River Track Meet

The NWT Track & Field Championship is back for its 30th edition on May 31st, June 1st and 2nd! It will be held in Hay River at the Diamond Jenness Secondary School track.

Students in grades 1 and up are invited to participate this year. While it is a school event, parents are responsible for taking their children to and from Hay River as well as supervising them during the event. Teachers will be accompanying from the school and are there to coach and manage the administrative side of the event.

If you are thinking of registering your child to participate in this event, it would be in your best interest to book or reserve accommodations as soon as possible!

Monday, Mme Danika J. will be passing in the classes to gather interest and send home a registration package. The timing is very tight this year as registrations and payment need to be back by Wednesday, May 10th, 2023. Practices will be held in gym classes as well as some lunch recesses.
If you have any questions regarding the Track & Field Meet, please direct them to Mme Danika by e-mail: danika.jobin@yk1.nt.ca.

Breakfast Program Volunteers

We are always on the lookout for volunteers for our breakfast program. If you can help us out on a weekday morning between 7:45 and 8:30, please take a look at the PAC's sign-up sheet and consider volunteering. We appreciate your help!
