Kim Poitras: École Sir John Franklin High School

What would the science wing be like without Ms. Poitras? Well, we would have a whole lot more kids looking for a place to have their lunches, that’s for sure. Five days a week you can find Kim in Room 23 during the lunch hour surrounded by kids who choose to eat there just so they can spend a bit more time with their favourite teacher. Kim is a highly-regarded member of the math and science departments, working specifically in the French Immersion program. She divides her time between both math and science courses, teaching a variety of students from Grades 9-12.

Kim has been at École Sir John Franklin High School since 2009 and in her time here has become one of the more respected and sought-after members of the faculty. She is rigorous and innovative in her program delivery, always pursuing ways to make student learning more meaningful. She works hard to get her kids outside and is a tireless advocate for hands-on experiences like lab work and machine building.
